About Me
I grew up in a Navy family. My childhood took us from the American South to the Panama Canal Zone, and later to Japan. I served a combat tour with the 4th Infantry Division in Vietnam. I was fortunate to have survived it, and the experience taught me a great deal about myself. Years of fall and winter backpacking allowed me to explore the wonders of North America from the Canadian Rockies to the Appalachian Trail . During these journeys, I developed a deep love and respect for nature, reflection, and the wonderment of it all. After these adventures, I settled in California with my wife and sons and led a successful executive career spanning decades and industries such as robotics, banking, and healthcare.

My travels throughout Canada and the United States taught me a deep appreciation for nature and our fellow creatures. My backyard is a wildlife preserve, filled with all sorts of visitors including ducks, squirrels, foxes, and possum. One of my great joys is watching over the various critters I encounter every day.
Pursuits
Right now, I’m passionate about two pursuits.
Our state faces serious challenges — from environmental degradation to financial instability. I want to draw on my life experience in the military and business world to help promote a culture of no-nonsense problem solving here in California. How can we fix the state’s financial and housing crises? How do we preserve the beautiful landscapes we’ve inherited as Californians?
On the educational side, I’m deeply fascinated by the workings of the cosmos. I’m an avid enthusiast of cosmology and regularly follow lectures and discussions from leading physicists and science communicators. Did the Big Bang really happen? What’s going on with UFOs?
